A clearer view of your business

See howthe workreally works.

Compass follows the handoffs, habits, and workarounds that keep your business moving, then shows you where to improve first.

No prep. No jargon. Just an honest look at the work.

Compass is following the work

What happens after a customer says yes?

The system

Fig. 02

See it. Change it. Keep it working.

One continuous engagement, not three products. Every stage is useful on its own, and you decide whether to keep going.

See it

A guided workflow review: a normal day walked step by step, pointed questions, and a map of where the work stalls, doubles back, or depends on one person's memory. You keep the map whether or not we build anything.

Two halves of one job

Section 01

Compass helps us understand the work. Solutions turn that understanding into a practical solution.

Most technology projects go sideways because the buying happened before the understanding. We do it in the other order.

Compass

Understand first

We walk through a normal day with the people doing the work, map the real workflow, and name where it breaks down. You end up with a clear picture and a recommendation you can act on, with or without us.

How Compass works

Solutions

Then build the right fix

Redesigned workflows, internal tools, connected systems, better visibility, and AI where it genuinely helps. We build the simplest responsible thing that solves the problem, then refine it once real work runs through it.

What we build

Working proofs

Section 02

A few examples, shown instead of explained.

Interactive walkthroughs of familiar workflows. Names and data are anonymized or simulated, and each one is labeled so it is clear what has been built and what is a concept.

  1. 01Built tool

    Document reconciliation

Compare two versions of the same report and get only the changes that need a person.

  2. 02Prototype

    Inventory and location

Scan items into a bin, move the bin, and watch custody of the contents stay intact.

  3. 03Prototype

    RFID-triggered workflow

One tap at a reader, then the log, the record, the notification and the follow-up task.

Sound familiar?

Section 03

You probably already know where the work gets stuck.

Owners and teams wearing too many hats usually can point at the friction. Naming it precisely, and fixing it in the right order, is the hard part.

If two people describe the same process differently, that gap is usually where the money leaks.

  1. 01Work lives in inboxes, and nothing moves until someone remembers to follow up.
  2. 02A spreadsheet became the system of record, and only one person really understands it.
  3. 03The same information gets typed into three different places.
  4. 04Handoffs happen by hand, a text, a sticky note, a hallway conversation.
  5. 05Reports get rebuilt from scratch every month.
  6. 06You bought a tool that almost fits, so people work around it.

No house favorite

Section 04

The right solution, not our favorite tool.

We don't have a product to move. Sometimes the answer is software we build. Sometimes it's configuring what you already own, deleting a step, or printing a better label.

Fit before features

The solution has to survive a busy Tuesday. If it only works when everyone is careful, it doesn't work.

Simplest responsible option

We'd rather hand you something small you'll actually use than a platform you'll grow to resent.

AI where it genuinely helps

Useful for summarizing, sorting, and drafting. Not a substitute for a workflow that makes sense.

What we build

Section 05

Six kinds of work, one way of working.

Every engagement starts with the same question, what is actually in the way, and ends with something a busy team can use without being careful.

  • 01

    Workflow redesign

Fewer steps, clearer ownership, and handoffs that don't depend on someone remembering.

  • 02

    Internal tools

Small purpose-built software for the one job a spreadsheet shouldn't be carrying.

  • 03

    Connected systems

Get the tools you already pay for talking to each other instead of to a person retyping.

  • 04

    Visibility and reporting

Numbers you can trust without rebuilding the same report from scratch every month.

  • 05

    AI where it helps

Summarizing, sorting, drafting, extracting. Never as a patch over a broken process.

  • 06

    Technology care

Ongoing stewardship and continuous improvement so the fix keeps working after launch.

Ways to work together

Section 06

Start small. Keep going only if it’s worth it.

Three steps, each useful on its own. Scope and price are agreed in writing after we’ve seen the work, never from a menu.

Most clients begin with Compass and decide from there. That is the point.

  1. 01

    Compass review

A guided review of how the work actually happens, ending in a clear picture and a recommendation you can act on with or without us.

  2. 02

    Focused build

One workflow, taken from friction to working solution, designed, built, tested with real work, and handed over properly.

  3. 03

    Ongoing partnership

We stay involved: care, small improvements, and the next workflow when you're ready for it.

Who you’ll work with

Section 07

Scenic City Technology is Tim DeMoss, working directly with the people doing the work.

No account manager, no handoff to a delivery team you’ve never met. The person who maps your workflow is the person who builds and maintains the fix.

Eight years delivering technology inside a 24/7 regulated manufacturing operation, hands-on responsibility across plant systems, hardware, software, users, vendors, rollout, training and post-launch reality. Scenic City Technology is early-stage on purpose: Tim works directly with every client, and the person who maps your workflow is the person who builds and maintains the fix.

Field notes

Section 08

Notes from the work.

Short, plainspoken essays on workflow craft, what to fix, what to leave alone, and what technology can honestly do about it.

Bring us the part that should not be this hard.

Describe the workflow that keeps tripping people up. We’ll tell you plainly whether we can help, and what the first honest step looks like.
